How much do SEO tools cost?

The pricing map became clearer (and steeper at the top) in recent years. The professional suites raised prices repeatedly. Semrush's entry SEO plan now lists at $139 monthly ($117.33 on annual billing), Ahrefs moved to around $108 to $129 for Lite with meaningful features pushed to the $200+ Standard tier, and add-ons multiplied (Ahrefs’ AI tracker Brand Radar costs $199 a month on top). These prices assume the tool is a business expense. They make no sense against hobby revenue.

The middle and budget tiers are where most readers should shop. Serpstat ($50 on annual billing) and SE Ranking ($103.20) deliver genuine all-in-ones; Mangools (~$29) and KeySearch (~$24) cover keyword research and tracking for small sites; Keywords Everywhere costs $84 a year for browser-level data. Content tools price separately, Frase at $49, Surfer around $79 to $89, Clearscope at $129 for teams. The new AI-visibility trackers (Peec AI and peers) start near $95, with suite-bundled versions narrowing that case.

Two buying rules keep budgets honest. The first is free until it hurts. GSC plus free Screaming Frog plus Keywords Everywhere covers a small site’s first year for under $30 total. The second is that monthly tool spend should not exceed what the site earns (or saves you) monthly. A $139 suite under a $50-a-month blog is a hobby tax, not an investment. Tools compound the work. They do not replace it.
